Here comes the most awaited Smartphone which has in-display finger-print sensor. It was expected that iPhone, Samsung or Google pixel this company will show us the in-display finger-print sensor with there flagship Smartphone.
But this new feature is out frist time by Chain's company named VIVO. Vivo company was took out the cover from this new feature in recently happened event CES 2018 Consumer Electronic Show 2018.
Apart from the finger-print sensor they have not mentioned the specs or the design of the smartphone. They also not mentioned name of the smartphone which will bring that new feature.
Vivo has not provided us any information but at the least, we know that the device has been geared up for mass production and will start hitting the market shelves soon. Mr Alex Feng, Senior Vice President at Vivo stated in a press release, "With our efforts in extensive consumer research and long-term R&D investment, Vivo is well positioned to pioneer the development of fingerprint scanning technology"
"We first presented a prototype of our fingerprint scanning solution at MWC Shanghai 2017 based on an ultrasonic sensor, and have remained committed to realizing our vision for future smartphones". "Today's showcase of a ready-to-produce in-display fingerprint scanning smartphone featuring an optical fingerprint sensor is a big leap forward in bringing consumers this long-awaited, futuristic mobile experience. We are very excited to make it available to consumers soon." Regarding the in-display biometric sensor, it is only compatible with OLED displays but still works even if there's an additional screen protector on top. Here's how it works.
Whenever a person comes in contact with the touchscreen, the OLED panel illuminates the fingerprint and processes the biometric information to figure out whether to unlock the phone or not. It promises the same level of security provided by the traditional fingerprint sensors embedded in physical home buttons. Vivo is using a newly announced Synaptics optical sensor, which has been in development for years. It works by peering through the gaps between the pixels in an OLED display (LCDs wouldn’t work because of their need for a backlight) and scanning your uniquely patterned epidermis.
This is likely the tech that Synaptics and Samsung were collaborating on for the Galaxy S8 for last year, right up until it became apparent that it wouldn't be ready in time for the phones release. Things are different now, as Vivo is close to announcing this as-yet-unnamed phone properly and Synaptics is already in mass production with the so-called Clear ID sensor. There still a lot to learn about under-display fingerprint scanner like whether or not it can actually live up to its hype and if it can really be used conveniently on a day to day basis. Luckily, it seems that we won't have to wait long before we get to see the production model bearing the said technology. So, that it for this topic for more Stay Tuned on Being Versatile.
